Repression, shame, first sex, the hunt, ecstasy, intimacy, aging, sexuality — we delve into the healthy and unhealthy aspects of these vital areas of our lives. We will move from secrecy to authenticity together, from the wounded Lover to conscious, empowered masculinity.

Open and inclusive to all men regardless of age, ethnicity, race, marital
status, or sexual orientation.  Limited to a total of 30 men.

We urge you to consider inviting a young man or men to this gathering.  There will be a special small group for younger men, like last year.

Gather with a small community of men in a natural setting to explore, heal, and vitalize relationship, sex and intimacy themes over a Friday to Sunday program that will involve individual and small group experiential

activities. We all carry relational histories: a mosaic of love and wounds, light and shadow, secrets and authenticity. We will cover topics of internalized messages about sex and intimacy; recognizing instinctual masculine-feminine drives; releasing regrets and shame; clarifying and identifying our own understanding of relational integrity and authenticity.

“Your love should never be offered to the mouth of a Stranger; Only to someone who has the valor and daring to cut pieces of their soul off with a knife, then weave them into a blanket to protect you.” — Hafiz

Registration and room assignments will be between 4 and 5:30 pm Friday evening with our potluck dinner at 6:00.  We are at the North Campus.  Feel free to come to Hummingbird anytime on Friday and enjoy the land. Accommodations are double rooms (you can visit the new website to view the rooms at http://hummingbirdmusiccamp.com/about-our-camp/hummingbird-campus/north-campus/).

The cost of Hummingbird meals for the weekend is $40.  There is an optional $10 linens charge (towels, sheets & pillowcase), or you can bring your own towel, sheets and blanket (or sleeping bag) and pillow.  You may also bring a tent or sleep in your camper for $10 per night (expect freezing temperatures in April at this elevation).  See the registration forms (linked below) for a complete list of costs.  Further detailed information (with logistical details and some homework from your leaders) will be sent by Email one week prior to the retreat.

Friday night we will have our traditional pot-luck meal starting at 6:00 PM. Please bring HEALTHY food to share, a main dish, vegetable dish, or dessert. All other meals will be served by Hummingbird (Hummingbird offers vegetarian and gluten-free food options).   You may opt-out of ALL Hummingbird meals, but if opting-out, must bring your own food, pots and pans.  Flatware will be provided and a refrigerator is available.

Directions to the Camp:  http://hummingbirdmusiccamp.com/maps-and-directions/     Emergency numbers for Hummingbird: (575) 829-3060 or (575) 829-4227 (don’t count on cell phone coverage in the Jemez).

We believe that the cost of an event should not prevent anyone from participating in our events, and have scholarship funds available to support those who need it.  If you need assistance, please scroll down to the “Scholarship” section near the bottom of this page.  It contains the information you need to complete and submit a scholarship request.

“Everyone gets wounded in this world and everyone has within them some golden qualities that can serve to heal the wounds of time and the traumatic effects of human tragedy.”  — Michael Meade

“The Spring Retreat was my first experience of what New Mexico Men’s Wellness is about.  At this weekend in 2008, I met many amazing men who I still consider some of my best friends and teachers.  It is the one NMMW event that I absolutely refuse to miss” — Jim Connolly

New Mexico Men’s Wellness wants as many men as possible to participate in and benefit from our events.  For this reason we encourage new men, younger men or anyone needing financial assistance to apply for it.  We have funds available for this purpose.  To apply, please download and complete the following by clicking on the following links:

  1. A Scholarship Application Form
  2. A Mail-in Registration Form (Please complete all information and options but do not send any payment)

Those wishing to apply for a scholarship should fill out a “mail-in” registration form using Adobe Acrobat Reader (NOT the PDF viewer in their web browser), and save it on their computer.  They should also fill out a scholarship application form and save that on their computer also.  Both files should be sent to Vittorio LaCerva (heartsongsvittorio@gmail.com) for review.  The review process should take no more than a week, after which applicants will be apprised of their status.  NMMW does require some contribution with the minimum of $25.  The forms may also printed on paper, completed and mailed to: Vittorio LaCerva, 52 Zambra Way, Santa Fe, NM 87506.  Mailed-in requests will likely take a bit more time to review.

If you have any questions about the Scholarship program, please contact Vittorio via Email to heartsongsvittorio@gmail.com or by telephone at 505-983-4233.
