May 2020 NMMW Newsletter

Greetings! We hope this finds you well, healthy and being of service to others. This is a new initiative by the Board to try and reduce the number of email communications you receive from NMMW.

The journey of men towards wellness is an individual and collective story, a connecting to source and wisdom within, with our inner transformation manifesting in the outer world.

Newsworthy items:

  • The Couples event has been postponed until May 2021. The Summer Gathering is still on. Look for registration info in early June.

  • You should have received a separate communication about upcoming NMMW sponsored ZOOM events. Check them out!

  • We remain hopeful that both the Santa Fe and Albuquerque Bring a Buddy evening events will resume as “in the flesh” gatherings in June.

  • Some of you may have received calls from Board members over the past few weeks. Most have found this reaching out to be extremely beneficial for both parties. This initiative was started by the Board to seek input on improving what is offered by NMMW.

  • Man Alive! summer edition call for submissions. The deadline is June 14th. Topic will be Growth. Poetry, prose (max 1500 words) drawings and photos all welcome. Especially interested in pieces reflecting CoVid19 resiliency. Questions? contact Hank Blackwell 505-551-2400 or

  • Progress continues on a new website. We hope to have it up and running by June.

  • We are still working on diversity outreach and helping men get into groups. Contact Dave Robertson in Albuquerque (505) 803-6242/ Email: and Barry Cooney (505) 220-6657/ Email: in Santa Fe if you have openings or know of someone seeking to join a group.

  • We are continuing to expand our Social Media presence. Here are some guidelines for creating short video pieces for NMMW to use on its pages. Click on these links to see two samples:

Video Criteria

  • Orientation: Landscape
  • Time: 3 minutes to be edited down to 30 Seconds
  • Sound: Be aware of background noise, wind etc. Clarity. Indoors preferred.
  • Background: Clean without distractions coming out of head.
  • Quality: HD
  • Lighting: Frontal or face without light sources behind face – avoid backlighting
  • Stability: Be aware of camera shake. If available, use tripod or table.
  • Editing: We will be editing video so don’t worry about it not being perfect. Give us several (5-10) takes. W can combine them together into one good video.
  • Delivering Files: Transfer full resolution to PC and send to Dropbox

Hugs from our NMMW Board: Mark Ayers, Barry Cooney, Jon Driscoll, Roger Harmon, Marc Kolman, Victor La Cerva, Mark Pugsley and Dave Robertson.
