28th Fall Conference October 18-21, 2012

Registration is now open for the 28th NMMW Fall Conference.

“What makes us Men — The Stories of our Lives”

It is our stories that connect us.

We all have stories to tell: stories from our youth, stories from our experience
and wisdom, stories of our deepest loves and loneliest heartbreaks.

We have stories of triumph and success and stories of pain and disappointment.

We have stories told over and over, ones that define who we are,
stories we are proud to tell.

We have stories from living, too numerous to remember.

It is our stories that connect us and make meaning out of every day.

Come and join us at Ghost Ranch as we share in telling the stories of our lives.

2012 Registration FormThe 28th NMMW Fall Conference will be Thursday, October 18th through Sunday, October 21st at the Ghost Ranch Conference Center in Abiquiu, New Mexico. The conference begins at 7:00 PM on Thursday and concludes by about 1:00 PM on Sunday.

The theme for the conference this year is “What Makes us Men – The Stories of Our Lives.”  The story below from conference leader Kurt Faust conveys the focus of the weekend:

Hi all good men,

A while back I had the chance to travel from Santa Fe to Mexico for the weekend.  A builder acquaintance of mine needed some Talavera tile and sinks for a project he was doing.  I needed some light fixtures and needed to get out of town and this seemed like a good way to kill two birds with one stone.  A mutual carpenter friend heard us talking and decided to join in.  The three of us rode down to Juarez three-across the bench seat of late 70€²s Ford pick up truck on a nice fall afternoon.  To pass the time we started telling stories.  Mostly, they began as simple stories of some-something that had happened at one time or another in our lives.  Often, they had no point other than the previous story had sparked a memory.  Over the course of the weekend the stories continued, one story begetting another.  As the stories unfolded so did our friendship.  By the time we had returned we had covered a lot of ground €” more than the mileage between Santa Fe and Juarez, Mexico.  It was an amazing journey and I still remember how those stories bonded us together in such a very short time.

We all have stories in our lives €” stories of our lives. We have stories of our youth, stories of love (or love gone wrong), stories of success and failure, funny stories & sad stories.  We have stories that repeat themselves (some might even be re-occurring themes).  I like that Men€™s Wellness is a place where a man can tell his story and other men will listen.

The theme of the 2012 Fall Conference is about our stories.  We will tell our stories together.  This year’s Fall Conference will arise from our stories and I expect that together our stories will be powerful and transformative.

Registrations must be postmarked by no later than October 5th, and early bird registrations postmarked by no later than September 15th. All registrants will receive a confirmation letter with more details about the conference. This year confirmations will be sent only by Email (rather than postal mail) unless otherwise specifically requested. Registration is limited to 90.
