The 31st New Mexico Men’s Wellness Fall Conference will be held October 22-25, 2015 at the Ghost Ranch Conference Center in Abiquiu, New Mexico.

Returning to the Beauty of Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, New Mexico

What It’s All About: Intention, Content, Process, and You!

The Conference theme this year, “QUEST FOR HAPPINESS: THROUGH GRIEF AND GRATITUDE”, will be an exploration of what brings us happiness in its broadest and deepest sense, that may include achievement, balance, connection, freedom, health, love, meaning, peace, service and wholeness. What barriers and challenges obstruct our path toward sustainable happiness?  How can we create happiness and that sense of well-being in ourselves and others, even in light of our suffering, undesired change and inevitable loss?  How can we build our capacity

for joy and optimism throughout our lives? When our happiness is threatened, how do we respond? How can we develop our resilience and the ability to return to happiness sooner rather than later? There will be opportunities to share and discuss these and many other issues that relate to men and their happiness.

The Conference offers you a chance to see your life with a fresh perspective and develop the tools to change if you choose. Happiness is a big concept, one that means something different to each of us. It is a feeling that guides our everyday actions and can change from moment to moment.  It is an emotion and a concept that can teach us about ourselves and how we can relate to one another with more compassion and understanding.

Learning with Each Other

Learning with Each Other

New Mexico Men’s Wellness is a community that welcomes all men, from all backgrounds and beliefs, both old timers and newcomers. We offer an opportunity for men to share their life experience, listen to themselves and others in a new way and learn personal lessons that can be important and life changing, no matter what their age.

We’ll have time to enjoy the amazing natural beauty of Ghost Ranch and spend time in pairs, small groups, and large talking circles. We include activities that engage and open the mind, body, heart, and spirit to provide opportunities for reflection, relaxation, and shared meaning. We might sit quietly, write, make art, create music, sing, do skits, reconnect with old friends and develop new relationships.

One thing is sure – this Fall Conference weekend will be a transformational opportunity to bring you closer to the life you want to live. We invite you to join the Quest for Happiness at the 31st annual New Mexico Men’s Wellness Conference at Ghost Ranch this Fall.  Invite a friend and double your pleasure.

Leadership and Planning for the Fall Conference

New Mexico Men’s Wellness began 31 years ago with a focus on men and their physical health. Our mission has evolved “To nurture wellness in body, mind and spirit through the sharing of experiences across generations and cultures in safe, collaborative settings”.  This year’s Fall Conference leader is Charlie Lamson from Santa Fe and his co-leader, and successor for 2016, is Robby Beck, from Clayton, NM. NMMW’s strengths lie in our collaborative leadership style and in the relaxed and organic nature of our events. The lifeblood of Men’s Wellness is engaged participation and friendship, as exemplified by the planning process in which the event is created and developed. We invite you to participate in the planning and collaboration for this year’s Conference.

Circle of Friends

Reconnect with Old Friends, Develop New Relationships

Planning Committee members volunteer their time to develop the theme, plan the flow of activities, create the sessions, and lead various elements of the Conference. Any man who plans to attend the Conference is welcome to participate in the planning sessions, which begin on August 11 at Charlie Lamson’s home in Santa Fe and alternate between Albuquerque and Santa Fe every two weeks until mid October. For many men who have participated in the past, these planning sessions are a lot of fun and represent the true beginning of the Fall Conference. Please contact Charlie if you would like to be included on the email list, receive the details of what will be covered at each particular session and directions to the meeting locations.

The schedule for Planning Sessions is:

  • August 11 in Santa Fe (Tuesday)
  • August 25 in ABQ (Tuesday)
  • September 8 in SF (Tuesday)
  • Sept. 21, in ABQ (Monday)
  • October 6 in SF (Tuesday)
  • October 13 in ABQ (Tuesday) if required

Santa Fe meetings will be held at the home of Charlie and Alberta Lamson and Albuquerque meetings will be held at the Chapel of Phil and Lee Davis.  Information on the meetings (including directions) will be sent to the planning group email list.

Flyer to Distribute to Friends and Fellows:

We have prepared a flyer about the Conference that can be printed, attached to Emails, posted where interested men would be likely to read it, and otherwise shared with anyone you think would enjoy and benefit from the Fall Conference. The flyer is designed to be printed as a two-sided tri-fold brochure (looks best printed two-sided on a color printer) that can be handed out to interested friends, or posted anywhere people can see it. Please click 2015 NMMW Conference Flyer to download the flyer in Acrobat PDF format (Please note: the flyer is quite a large file – about 7MB – and might take a while to download over slower connections).

If you need to download Adobe’s Free Acrobat Reader (very useful for lots of things including completing some of the forms linked on this page) please click on the logo below which will take you to Adobe’s site and assist with getting it installed on your PC, Mac, or mobile device:

Important Note: Other PDF readers will allow you to view Acrobat documents but only the genuine Adobe Reader will allow you to save completed forms that may be sent as Email attachments.  This is particularly important for those who want to apply via email for scholarship assistance.

If you have comments related to this webpage or the NMMW website in general, please direct them to the Webmaster, Jim Connolly via email to webmaster@nmmw.org.
