Exploring Our Stories

The Annual Father/Daughter Gathering

Ghost Ranch, New Mexico

May 24-27, 2013

We are delighted to announce that this year’s event will include an extra day (running from Friday afternoon until Monday morning), allowing us more time together and also more free time to enjoy the remarkable opportunities at Ghost Ranch.

Each year, fathers and daughters gather to honor and celebrate their special relationship.  This year, our theme is “Exploring Our Stories”, inviting us to draw inspiration from the power of sharing our life’s stories, stories of the past, present and future.  This may be an opportunity to get to know one another in entirely new ways!

Within this theme, we will share in large and small group settings, explore topics and questions in “fishbowl” style (always a favorite) and enjoy a father-daughter lunch outing.  We will also hike and explore Ghost Ranch together, gather around a campfire and create an art project.

In all, come prepared to have fun, to learn, to grow and to connect.  This is a unique opportunity to create new depth in your father-daughter relationship.

Radiant-Theme-WebThe New Mexico Men’s Wellness Father-Daughter Gathering was held June 1-3, 2012 at Ghost Ranch near Abiquiu, New Mexico.  As always, it was an incredibly enriching and rewarding experience for all of the fathers and daughters who participated.  In keeping with the themes of the beloved children’s story Charlotte’s Web,  “Weaving a Radiant Life” we explored how the themes of friendship, encouragement, love and the circle of life have played out (and continue to play out) in our father-daughter relationships.  The gathering was led by Amiel and John Gervers assisted by Kelly and Gary Carlson.  As always, within the well planned framework, it was the father and daughter participants who created the amazing synergy that enables the special connections to develop between everyone involved.

This year, we have initiated something new for the Father-Daughter participants that we plan to continue as an interactive resource for all participants — from this year, prior years, and for those who are interested and have not yet attended (who we hope to see in the future).  It is a Father-Daughter Facebook page created by Amiel Gervers.  The link to the page is:

http://www.facebook.com/NMMWFatherDaughterGathering2012

In order to interact with the page, you must join Facebook.  When you connect, you will be offered an opportunity to sign up.  It is simple to do, and you can share as much or as little information with other Facebook “friends” as you choose to.  Once you are a member of facebook, just choose to “Like” the page and you will be able to see what has been posted, post your own comments and photos, and share with other members of the Father-Daughter community.

If you have any questions about making use of this connection, feel free to connect with Amiel Gervers (amielgraphics@yahoo.com) or the NMMW Webmaster, Jim Connolly (webmaster@nmmw.org).  Check it out and and join the NMMW Father-Daughter community.

Radiant-Theme-WebEach year, fathers and daughters gather to honor and celebrate their special relationship at the Annual Father-Daughter Gathering at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, New Mexico. This year the gathering is June 1st – 3rd, 2012.

The theme is “Weaving a Radiant Life” drawing its inspiration from the classic tale, Charlotte€™s Web by E.B. White, an endearing story of mentoring, friendship, love, and the circle of life.  It encourages us to seek out and honor the qualities in each other that make us special.  Charlotte sees the best in Wilbur and inspires him to become more than he thought possible.  Over time and through life’s trials, he comes to believe that he is indeed €œRadiant€ and €œTerrific€.

The story of Charlotte and Wilbur will provide a framework for exploring the special relationship we have as fathers and daughters.  This relationship includes love, mutual respect, shared learning, and support throughout life.

We invite you to come spin a web of connection with your father or daughter and to discover the magic that creates the bond between you. Share stories, hike, and spend quality time together in the beautiful landscape of Ghost Ranch, New Mexico.

The Yellow Brick Road:

A Journey of Discovery

Yellow-Brick-RoadKristin & Michael Kauffman would like to invite you to the 2011 NMMW Fathers and Daughters Gathering, which will take place at Ghost Ranch over the weekend of June 3 thru 5.

A JOURNEY OF DISCOVERY

scarecrowWe follow the yellow brick road with our father or daughter to a place of discovery. We will explore our own experiencestinman as they relate to symbols and key characters from the imaginative world of The Wizard of Oz. We begin with the Scarecrow who did not have a brain and discuss a time that required a lot of thought; maybe it was difficult to discern the right path. We will visit the Tin Man with no heart; paralyzed and stuck. Last, we lionmeet the Cowardly Lion and reflect on a time when we ourselves needed courage. This familiar story provides a foundation to begin a dialogue with our father or daughter as we continue on this path of life.
